After sixteen years, the homeowners were ready to move beyond interiors defined by heavy Tuscan finishes, dated architectural detailing, and compartmentalized spaces. Although the home offered generous square footage and tall ceilings, the design no longer supported the family’s evolving lifestyle.

This renovation reimagined approximately 1,500 square feet of living space, transforming key areas of the home including the office, living room with dining area, family room, kitchen with eat-in area, powder room, laundry room, entry, and stairs. The goal was to introduce a refined contemporary aesthetic while improving functionality for modern family life.

The remodel began by removing dated architectural elements and simplifying the home’s overall design language. Decorative wainscoting was removed throughout the main living areas to emphasize ceiling height and allow natural light to become a defining feature of the interior. In the living room and dining area, wallpaper installed on the ceiling draws the eye upward while adding subtle texture and visual interest.

The home office was redesigned to support flexible work-from-home needs. Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry provides generous storage while maintaining a clean architectural presence. A peninsula workspace improves everyday functionality, and new French doors with reeded glass provide privacy while still allowing light to move between spaces.

A custom stair handrail with a waterfall detail and brushed gold finish introduces a sculptural element to the interior. Carefully designed structural balusters support the handrail while reinforcing the home’s contemporary character.

Throughout the great room, family room, and stairs, worn carpeting was removed and hardwood flooring was installed across the main living areas. The floors were refinished in a contemporary stain, creating visual continuity throughout the home.

The family room was redesigned to support both everyday living and entertainment. Custom cabinetry provides space for media and gaming while maintaining a tailored appearance, while a fireplace clad in floor-to-ceiling reeded marble tile creates a dramatic focal point.

The kitchen was updated with improved workflow, contemporary materials, layered lighting, and high-end appliances to support the family’s growing interest in cooking together. The ceiling cove above the eat-in area was simplified to align with the home’s updated design.

In the powder room, a bold color-drenched approach combines mural wallpaper, a floating vanity, and gold hardware to create a jewel-box moment within the home.

The laundry room blends function with design through custom cabinetry and a marble checkered tile floor, while an integrated drop zone organizes backpacks, shoes, and everyday essentials.

Throughout the renovation, durable materials were selected to balance refined design with the needs of an active household, creating interiors that feel both elevated and comfortable for everyday living.
